Scientific scuba diving

The execution of under-water research activities which require special scientific techniques where crafting skills are only marginally used and which have no commercial goal, has to be carried-out by certified scientific scuba divers. Holders of a leisure diving licence who get injured during this kind of work usually cannot benefit from an insurance coverage. Instead, many skin diving insurance policies exclude any professional activities, including scientific ones. So, a private casualty insurance would be the only option. In contrast, a certified scientific scuba diver (ZH 1/540 guidelines) is covered by legal industrial injuries benefit insurances during his activities.

The research diver formation is possible in Rostock.
